The Village of Warkworth, Ontario is hosting its second annual juried show and sale. Artists working in many different media are invited to participate in this first-class event to be held in Mill Creek Park. Those participating will be provided with a great opportunity to display and sell their work in a magnificent venue during an event that is sure to become an annual favourite for discerning buyers of fine art and craft. An innovative and aggressive advertising and promotional campaign is being planned to attract customers from eastern, central and southern Ontario. Independent jurors will review artists’ submissions of images of current work. Acceptance will be solely on the basis of these images.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- All applicants must submit five recent digital images representative of the work you will be selling. All images must be of professional quality in order to be used for any publicity purposes.
- All work must be that of the participating artist.
- All work must conform to Warkworth Art In The Park Show Standards.
- While Warkworth Art In The Park is insured for public liability, we are NOT RESPONSIBLE for any lost or damaged pieces. All items for sale are the responsibility of the participant.
IMAGES OF WORK & DISPLAY – ALL APPLICANTS
The images of your work are your most valuable marketing tool. Images should be of excellent quality. Poor Images make it difficult for the juror(s) to give an honest appraisal and could result in an application not being accepted. You must submit five, professionally photographed, recent images that accurately represent the style and quality of work that will be exhibited and sold. These images are to your benefit as it gives the juror(s) an overall view of the range of work that will be sold.
Selection is only from digital JPEG images. Photographs, slides, samples, web sites and e-mail submissions cannot be submitted for selection. It is your responsibility to ensure that all digital files are saved in the correct file format, can be opened, are not corrupted and are compatible with other computer systems. When preparing your digital images, please follow the instructions below.
FILE TYPE & SIZE – IMPORTANT!!!
- Save images as JPEG or JPG using maximum quality. The file size should be minimum 1944 pixels wide at 300 dpi resolution. Smaller file sizes will result in poorer quality images that may be unsuitable for viewing or for publicity/print purposes.
- Avoid all DARK and/or textured image backgrounds in order for selection committee to view images properly.
- Save the image in the correct orientation.
- Non JPEG/JPG images are not accepted and will not be converted.
- Do not use PowerPoint and other types of presentations formats as well as any auto-run programs such as Kodak Easy Share.
- Do not include your name, studio name or any other written information on the actual digital image.
FILE NAMES/NUMBERING – IMPORTANT!!!
- Name (use your first and surname Initials) and Number each JPEG image to correspond with IMAGE LIST of the Application Form.
- For example, your name is GREAT ARTIST – the JPEG image files on the CD must be named: GAImage1.JPG, GAImage2.JPG, GAImage3.JPG, GAImage4.JPG, GAImage5.JPG.
- Do not place images in separate file folders or as zipped files.
- Submit all 5 images on one standard size Compact Disc (CD). Clearly label the CD with your full name and category, e.g. SCULPTURE. Send the CD in a protective mailer to prevent breakage. Warkworth Art In The Park assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage of any items submitted.
- Submit in word document format (.doc) or PDF file of your CV on the CD also.
PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
Warkworth Art In The Park reserves the right to use the images and promotional material submitted by exhibitors and those photographs taken at the Show for promotional purposes without notice or payment to the exhibitor.
PRICING
At Warkworth Art In The Park, we believe in the value of handmade work. To maintain this integrity, signs offering pricing discounts, reduced prices, show specials or other materials of this nature are not permitted to be displayed. Booth identification signage should be of professional quality.
SET UP AND TAKE DOWN
After you check-in, you may set up on Saturday, May 19, 7 am and complete by 9:30 am. Your booth exhibit must be maintained and managed throughout show hours for both days of the show.
You must have your booth/exhibit intact for all two days of the show. Under no circumstances should you close your booth display early or take it down during show hours without first consulting the Show Coordinator. At end of the Warkworth Art In The Park event, all displays and work must be removed from the Mill Creek Park by 6 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2011.
ENTRY FEES
Entry fee of $150 must accompany this application and will entitle the accepted participant to 1 (one) 10 x 10 ft booth location. Cheque is made payable to Warkworth Business Association – SPECIAL EVENTS. Participants will be notified of acceptance by April 20, 2012. Entry Fee Cheques will only be cashed upon notification of acceptance into the event. Entry fee is non-refundable after April 20, 2012, with a $50 processing charge being retained for cancellations received before that date.
